Modelboatmayhem.co.uk Wicksteed Weekend - 2013
Despite the atrocious weather on the Friday, a small and soggy band of club working party regulars spent most of the day out in it, the weekend can only be described as a fantastic success, two days of pure model boating pleasure with glorious wall to wall sunshine.
The presentation of the lake area , hedges, grass and the superb quality of the water was down to Nigel Marriot and an equally small band of dedicated helpers and Wicksteed Park ground staff. Thank you to all of them.
The new club tent was erected on Friday in some of the most inclement weather we had experienced for a long time and stood up to the elements very well, the all steel concertina construction while heavy is, when you know what your doing very easy to erect and the roof and side walls are of a heavy duty material, not unlike the curtain sides of lorries, but a little lighter.
The club tombola tent was again of the same construction but half the size and while not owned by the club will always be available for events where we don’t need the large one.
This year we organized a bring and buy stall, in the shelter for boat related items run by Bob Baker and Rob Mitchell.
The star item had to be and old and tatty 50’s style river cruiser lying on the outside table with two other equally well used relics. It was quickly spotted by one Mayhemer and after much investigation both inside and out was pronounced “as rare as hens teeth” and snapped up for the asking price £15!
There was so much going on at the weekend and so many of you all were there that I will not go into too much detail as there is comment and 1500 pictures on Modelboatmayhem.co.uk, Flickr, and Photobucket, links found below:

I have put in a few pictures to accompany this brief article and you will notice that besides the boats and general goings on the are two young faces above, the first is Jye Mitchell son of Rob Mitchell, and Ieuan Brinkworth son of Paul Brinkworth who now sail regularly at the home water with their dads.
So in conclusion enjoy the pictures on here and go to the Mayhem forum for the complete story.
