Evening Sail 31st October 2014.
We had our last evening sail of the year to coincide with the Halloween event put on by the Park and it turned out to be probably the best one of the year. There were some twelve boats on the water throughout the evening, all dressed with colourful and imaginative light of all descriptions.
The exceptionally mild evening saw many members spending three to four hours on the water, much of it in the pitch black and with only the most minor of incidents being one of the larger vessels loosing receiver battery power and going round in circles, but being skilfully rounded up by some of the larger boats and bought back to shore. A new battery was fitted and it was quickly back out again.
We managed to get through over forty bacon and sausage rolls and a few tins of Jan's sticky buns.
All in all a very enjoyable night and not to forget the work put in by Jan, Joan and Maureen in keeping us all fed and watered.
I don’t think any of us proved to be expert nightime photographers but Jonathan seemed to have got the hang of it so I’ve put his ones up on the first slide show first and the ones that I took on the second one. If you took any pictures that you want putting on the site just email them to me.
Those that attended are all for another event so perhaps in the early spring when things are starting to warm up a bit we’ll organise another sail unless there are enough hardy ones for a winter one, that’s up to you to let Maureen know.
Paul.
