Keith Carey Memorial Shield 2017
September 17th marked the annual gathering to compete for the Keith Carey Memorial Shield. Keith was the club chairman in 2008 but unfortunately passed away to continue in this role. We have remembered him every year since that year by holding a sailing/displaying event which involves the club choosing their favourite model both on display and sailing on the lake. The votes are secret and the club members choose the three models that they like the most. At the end of the day Roger Kirbyshire works out which model has won first, second, and third. Winners of the awards will not know who has achieved the club's favourite until the Christmas Dinner night. The awards are presented by Keith's widow, Maureen at the Dinner.
Whilst I (the website editor) couldn't attend this year due to a month long prior arrangement, Alan Burgess sent me the photos of the event and the models on display were truly impressive both in quality and abilities.
