Model Boat Mayhem and Wicksteed Park MBC Proudly Presents...
'Mayhem at Wicksteed 2015'
Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th May 2015
The Model Boat Mayhem Forum and Wicksteed Park MBC are marking their ninth anniversary this May and will be celebrating in style at Wicksteed Park model boating lake. Keeping with traditional ‘wedding’ gifts this year is our woolen anniversary, so the theme will be wooly pullovers, cardigans and similar winter wooly items!
The Mayhem at Wicksteed show always lands on the Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend and this year is no different, the festivities will commence on Saturday 23rd and finishing on Sunday 24th, but as with Mayhem tradition that is very subject to conditions, many of the Mayhemers setting up and sailing on the Friday to get the most from the nice summer sun!
This year there will be some new sailing displays for everyone’s enjoyment, including a Victorian sailing review of Pre-dreadnoughts, armoured cruisers, protected cruisers, torpedo-boats and gunboats of all nations. Something not to be missed, we are tying to get as many Victorian era vessels in one place to simulate the famous Spithead Review at the turn of the last century.
The Model Boat Mayhem is a collection of like-minded model boat builders and sailors who chose to meet at Wicksteed Park in 2007 to physically meet for the first time person to person, the show has proven to be popular with the Mayhemers- some Mayhemers making an annual pilgrimage from as far as Glasgow, and at one meet a member from South Africa!
So if you are interested in seeing a huge selection of model boats sailing together come along to Mayhem at Wicksteed this May and see everything from warships to fishing boats, pond yachts to submarines, there will be something for everyone.
Also... if you want to bring a boat to the show, please do, this is a sailing show where everyone is invited.
Events Include:
Free Sailing
Straight Running Competition
Steering Course Competition
Victorian Warship Fleet review
Springer Tug 'Tug of War' and Football Match
Best Photo of the Weekend
Night Sailing
Saturday Night BBQ.
