Deans Marine Open Day 7th-9th September 2012
We had a small stand at Ron Deans factory open day for just the Saturday again this year. Steve Brown, Brian Hart, Robert Mitchell and Paul Millers spent a very enjoyable day, talking to the many visitors most of whom were fellow boaters from as near as Peterborough and as far away as Holland and a few ports in between. Steve Brown took two of his boats HMS Velocity and Thorneycroft MTB that dropped it's torpedo's from the stern, which also go under the name of RAF Launches, this year sadly Nick Brown was unable to attend as the RAF have sent him to the Falklands.
As you can see from the pictures the standard of building was good, plenty of variety with many of them being sailed on Rons pond, so not just there for their looks. The type of boats varied from powered sailing boats to a turbine powered ferry. It was nice to see a few of our members venturing out to the far reaches of Farcett to support the show and of course supporting the traders that were there. Needless to say some of us came home with more boats that we went with. Brian was well pleased with his new tug, pictured between my Landing Craft and the tug Lady Wooes.
There was a cafe on site, the factory showrooms were open as was the shop so in all you could buy almost anything boat related.
I'll let the pictures tell the story.
