Wicksteed Park MBC Christmas Dinner 2015
Christmas, as always, is a time for not just family to come together but the club too. This year we had two reasons to come together to celebrate the festive time of the year- to remember Keith Carey, and more recently, Maureen Millers.
This year the club dinner was held in the club's usual haunt, the Stirrup Cup Public House, and a special thank you to Jan Beard for organising the evening's festivities. Over twenty club members and their partners enjoyed a lovely three meal dinner with the associated trimmings. Our invited guests were the late Keith Carey's wife- Maureen, and their daughter- Kim who kindly spoke to us about Keith and his love of the club and model boats, and once again presented the winners of the Keith Carey Memorial Shield competition.
Winners for the club's favourite model boat are as follows:
1st- Clive Beard
2nd- Paul Millers
3rd- Alan Burgess
After the presentation, Steve, our chairman, stood up and reminded everyone of our recent losses over the year, in particular our much loved club secretary- Maureen Millers.
The new Maureen Millers Memorial Cup was revealed for the first time to the club and handed to Paul Millers for the presentation to the lucky winner of this new prestigious award. Awarded for the Chairman's Choice of his favourite boat on show during the Warwick Model Boat Show, as Maureen loved this show so much, Paul presented the cup to Roger Clements for his collection of vintage models.
